BILIRAN BUDGET TRAVEL GUIDE: DIY Itinerary, Things to do, How To Get There, Tourist Spots and Attractions, Accommodations, Transportation, Expenses, Itinerary and More!

Are you looking for Biliran Budget Travel Guide?

This Biliran travel guide will provide you with basic information on how to get there, things to do, where to stay, suggested itinerary and estimated budget that will help you plan your visit to the "undiscovered paradise of Biliran".

HOW TO GET THERE

By Air
Tacloban City is the gateway to Biliran Island. Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines, AirPhilExpress and Zest Air has several flights daily from Manila to Tacloban City. From there, you could take a passenger van (Duptours, Van-Van's) going to Naval (130 PHP), the capital municipality of Biliran. Travel time from Tacloban to Biliran is around 2.5 hours.

By Sea
If you're coming from Cebu, you could ride a ferry boat going to Ormoc City, Leyte (several departures daily, 3 to 5 hours travel time), then take an aircon shuttle van that connects the trip to Naval, Biliran. You can also take a direct ferry ride from Cebu to Naval (travel time is around 8 hours, 2 times per week only).

El Roman Pensionne

ACCOMMODATIONS

There are a number of accommodations available in Biliran, from expensive hotels and resorts to cheap and affordable hostels, inns, pension and lodging houses. If you are on a tight budget (like me), the cheapest hostel could be the El Roman Pesionne located at the town proper.

El Roman Pesionne

  • Types of rooms:
    Airconditioned and Non-Airconditioned single/double occupancy/family Rooms

  • Notes: As it is located at the town proper, it is very accessible and near the business establishments and the port.
  • Clean and spacious rooms.Toilet and bath is small but neat. The staffs are courteous and very helpful.

TRANSPORTATION

There are buses that has cross-country trips from Naval to the eastern coastal town of Caibiran which takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Jeepneys are also available if you're going to nearby towns. And renting a boat is needed if you want to visit the nearby islands. Otherwise, take a habal-habal (motorcycle), it's the most common mode of transportation around the island as most of the roads outside the circumferential highway are rough roads. Be sure to haggle with the price to get the best possible rates. You may also hire them on a per-day basis.

If you wish to have a tour in Biliran, I highly recommend to you my guide, Kuya Jun Murillo. You may call or send him a text message at 09396049242. Rate is 500 pesos for a tour.

This is part of my solo weekend adventure in the province of Biliran last September 3-4, 2011. Dubbed as "undiscovered paradise", I was able to see great sights and panoramas such as waterfalls, islets, hot spring and rice terraces. Biliran is the 35th province on my list and this weekend adventure is my 9th solo trip. A side trip to Tacloban City, Leyte (my 36th province) is an added treat for this great weekend adventure.
