Day 3 of our Marinduque Adventure started early to some of us as they climbed Mt. Malindig, while most of us, including me, chose to sleep until the break of dawn. While waiting for their arrival, we had breakfast, fixed our things and readied for one of the much-awaited events of this trip - to witness the Via Crusis along the streets of Boac, one of the highlights of the Moriones Festival.

Minalungao National Park! Yahoo! Summer has always been my favorite season. Except for the hot weather, almost everyone likes this exciting part of the year. Thus, the hot summer season led us to explore one of the few remaining natural environment in Central Luzon. It was one of those days that I just want to leave and be somewhere. So I invited my friend to explore one of Nueva Ecija's hidden gems - Minalungao National Park in the town of General Tinio. It is one of those places that only a few have been to. I've been wanting to visit Minalungao since I saw photos of it from friends. Since then, I was enticed that I should see it for myself.

Calaba Bridge is a 900-meter Austrian Modular Bridge built across Abra River, one of the largest river systems in the Philippines. It was designed by Waagner Biro Philippines, Inc. and was completed in the year 2010. Constructed along the Abra-Ilocos Norte National Road, it connects the three municipalities of La Paz, Danglas and Lagayan to Bangued, the capital town of Abra.

After having breakfast in one of the fast food chains around the town plaza of Bangued, we rented a tricycle going to the town of Tayum, locates at 5 KM away northeast from the capital town of Bangued; travel time is around 15 minutes. This town must be well-known for its centuries-old, spanish era church dedicated to Sta. Catalina de Alejandria.

The strong waves coming from the Pacific Ocean make Siargao Island one of the most popular surfing destinations in the Philippines. As a "surfer wannabe", I really wanted to go there to ride its mighty waves. So when I had a chance to go to Surigao del Norte during my birthday trip, I took the chance and braved the 3-hour bumpy and vomit-inducing boat ride from Surigao city to Siargao island.

We woke early to catch the sunrise at Maniwaya island on day 2 of our 5-day Marinduque Adventure. Still very sleepy, I managed to get up and experience one of the best sunrises I've seen so far. It is magical! The sky was filled with hues of orange and blue. I 'luv it! Really stunning! What a great way to start our day!

Since I've already been to Butuan, I decided to explore Surigao City and celebrate my birthday. I have 3 days to explore the province of Surigao del Norte, my 61st province.

The thought of a heart-pounding adventure and an awesome weekend with friends made me decide to say "yes" to an invitation for a river rafting and water tubing adventure in Magdalena, Laguna. Despite being tired coming from a 2-day trip in Laoag, I woke up early and met up with my friends in Buendia where we rode a bus bound for Sta. Cruz, Laguna. From there, we took a jeepney that brought us to the town center of Magdalena.

"Digman" is a small barangay in the City of Bacoor in Cavite. It is known for it's famous halo-halo which Caviteños have enjoyed through the years. My brother has been bugging that we go to "Digman", as the summer heat has become unbearable this past few days. So this afternoon, together with my Princess Fiona we drove to Bacoor, Cavite.

On our first day in Marinduque, the group composed of 13 went to Tres Reyes Islands in the town of Gasan. Strangers to each other, we boarded the hired jeepney going to the docking port of the boat that will bring us the first of the three islands - Gaspar Island. Along the way, we get to know each other, from then on, I knew that this will be one exciting trip.

Southeast Asian Airlines (SEAIR) - Tiger Airways launched their Manila-Laoag route with its inaugural flight last April 4, 2013. The flight departed from Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 4 in Pasay City using an Airbus 320 which can accommodate up to 180 passengers. Daily flights leaves Manila for Laoag at 1:00 PM, while Laoag to Manila flight departs at 3:00 PM. This increases their flights to 10 destinations around the Philippines.

Gasang-gasang Festival is a yearly colorful Easter Sunday festival in the town of Gasan, province of Marinduque. It is in celebration of the origin of the name of the town "Gasan", which came from the term "Gasang-Gasang", a type of coral that used to be seen around the town's shoreline.

Bukidnon - Quickie Hike to the Provincial Tree Park

We woke up early on our 3rd and final day in Malaybalay City for a scheduled trek to the Bukidnon Provicial Tree Park. Located at the rear side of the provincial capitol grounds, we took a 10-minute tricycle ride to the jump-off point; fare is 8 pesos each. The tree park is a small hill also known as "Two-Tree Hill" because of the two tall trees at the top which can be seen from below. But due to the recent typhoon that passed by the city, only one tree remained at the peak.

Marinduque is considered as one of the top destinations in the Philippines during the Lenten season. It is where the Moriones Festival is held every year which starts from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday. Moriones is coined from the word "Morion", which literally means "mask", a part of the medieval Roman armor, replicating the garb of biblical soldiers roaming around the town searching for Longinus.
