Where to Eat in Pampanga Abes Farm in Magalang

Nestled in the foothills of the dormant volcano, Mt. Arayat lies a new lifestyle destination called Abe's Farm. "Abé", a Capampangan term which means "friend", is named after Emilio Aguilar Cruz, an esteemed writer, artist, bon vivant and food lover. It is a sprawling property in Magalang Pampanga which offers quiet and relaxing hideaway perfect for a countryside vacation with your family and friends.

Abe's Farm has a restaurant, swimming pool, spa, a museum and accommodations to cater to the visiting guests. The restaurant is set on an old nipa rest house which feels like your grandparent's house in the province with bamboo and antique wood furniture dominating its interiors. It has separate dining areas complemented with a charming ambiance coming from the large open windows, wooden chairs and tables, and lovely interiors.

Gising-gising (PHP 240.00)

Sliced kangkong stalks sautéed in red hot chili peppers and coconut milk. If you've been to Bistro Remedios in Malate, this is the same gising-gising they offer. It has the right richness of the coconut milk or gata. Quite hot and spicy but tolerable.

Crispy Pork Adobo ni Lola Ising (PHP 395.00)

Klasik Kare Kare (PHP 595.00)

My all-time favorite! Abe's Kare-kare has Oxtail and tripe stewed in peanut sauce with assorted vegetables. It has rich, thick peanut sauce with just the right amount of sweetness and creaminess. The veggies are fresh, crunchy and not overcooked. The bagoong on the side perfectly compliments it. It didn't disappoint me. It's what a good-tasting kare-kare should be.
