United Arab Emirates Minister of State for Foreign Trade Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi made an announcement where he unveiled the Green visa meant for business owners, investors, and entrepreneurs in the UAE.

The green visa seeks to attract top talent, boost foreign investment in UAE, and after granting of the visa can back-up family members.

1. UAE Green visa eligibility criteria


It is important to understand the eligibility criteria used to issue the UAE green visa. Among the people who are eligible for this visa include high-performing students and business owners.

The minister specified that the business owners must be self-dependent and the visa will be beneficial as you can sponsor your family members with it. The family members include parents, children up to 25, and spouses. Another benefit of this UAE green visa is a 90 to 180 days grace period if your visa is canceled.

2. How UAE residents now sponsoring their family


Not only can employers sponsor a person to UAE so as an employee. The basic requirement is a residency visa. The same benefits will be there for people who qualify for green visas. Below is clarification on the requirements and who can be sponsored terms and conditions.

3. Sponsorship requirements


If you are a foreigner in UAE and would like to sponsor some to UAE, either an employee or employer, you must have a valid residency permit.

If you are a male employed foreigner in UAE, you can sponsor your immediate family member, i.e., your children, spouse, or parent. There are several terms and conditions to meet, including a minimum salary of AED 4,000 or AED 3,000 plus accommodation.

4. Sponsoring your wife and children


It is possible as an expatriate to sponsor your children and family if you have a UAE residency visa. You ought to meet the terms mentioned above and conditions outlined by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA).

Among the requirements when you are sponsoring your wife, prove you are married. The authorities will prompt you to present to them authenticated marriage certificate in Arabic. If it is not written in Arabic, you have to look for a certified translator and translate it to Arabic before submitting it.

The student has to enter UAE at least once every six months so that his sponsored residence visa remains valid. The visa is issued on a yearly basis, and it is renewable until when the student finishes his education.

It is possible to sponsor your parents to live in UAE if you are an expatriate employee. You will be required to pay a deposit that serves as a grantee for each parent as outlined by the immigration department.

When you are sponsoring the parent, they have to be two of them, and if one is dead or divorced, you have to submit supporting documents to prove the case.

Additionally, you have to submit documents proving you are the sole support and no one is available back home to take care of them.

To qualify to sponsor your parents, you have to earn the stipulated minimum salary as per the immigration department and get your parent's medical insurance, which will meet the basic medical coverage and will be renewed each year.

According to details on the Amer website, the minimum salary should be AED 20,000 to sponsor parents' visas.

9. Woman sponsoring her family


It is possible as a woman to sponsor your husband and children in Abu Dhabi. There are several requirements to meet, including;
  • Hold a residence permit.
  • Be either an engineer, teacher, doctor, nurse, or other profession related to the medical sector.
  • The monthly salary is at least AED 10,000 or AED 8,000, including accommodation.
  • Any other documents which are required by the respective authority.

If a woman does not work in one of these fields, she can still sponsor her family in Dubai. Among the requirements is earning a salary wage of more than AED 10,000, and she has to obtain special clearance from the DNRD.

If you are a single mother, you can sponsor your children, but you will be requested to submit similar to those when sponsoring stepchildren.
