Being half BatangueƱo, we frequently visit Batangas. It is where I spent my early years when I was born and it is also where I spent most of my summer vacations when I was younger. Batangas is my "second home" and I love it just like I love my home province of Cavite.

There are many amazing beaches in Batangas that are worth visiting on your next trip to this amazing Southern Luzon province. If a quick vacation is what you're after, visiting Batangas is a good idea. Rich in natural attractions and underwater wonders, there are so many beautiful and must-visit Batangas beaches that you, your friends and the whole family could enjoy. Gifted with one of the longest coastlines in Southern Luzon, the province offers many beaches, islands, dive spots, and beach resorts that are a favorite among city dwellers and weekend warriors.

You will never run out of options when it comes to Batangas beaches and resorts. The best thing is, Batangas is just 2-3 hours away from Metro Manila. When you think of beaches in Batangas, Anilao would probably one of the first things that will come to your mind. This coastal village in Mabini, Batangas is home to many resorts and dive centers that cater to the needs of the visiting tourists - both local and foreign visitors.

As a popular diving destination, Anilao also offers great scenery, islands and coves to explore, and activities that visitors could enjoy. It doesn't have white sandy beaches but its underwater ecosystem is its biggest attraction and tourist drawer. You could do island hopping, snorkeling, picnicking, beach bumming and of course, diving. If you're on budget, you could stay at the many affordable resorts in the area. But if you want to splurge, you may also check out one of Anilao's numerous high-end resorts for that memorable weekend getaway.

Compared to other beaches on this list, Isla Verde is not a popular beach destination in Batangas. But having been there, I could say that it's definitely worth a visit. Also known as Verde Island, it is located between the islands of Luzon and Mindoro, along Verde Island Passage which is dubbed as the "Center of the Center of Marine Biodiversity in the World." Known for its pristine clear waters and amazing underwater treasures, Verde Island is a favorite among local and foreign tourists, backpackers and intrepid travelers looking for an awesome vacation away from the crowd.

MUST DO ACTIVITIES: Activities to enjoy in Verde Island includes snorkeling, hiking, swimming, sunset viewing, among many other exciting activities.

3. Laiya, San Juan Batangas


Laiya is a seaside community that has been a popular beach destination for city dwellers because of its proximity from Manila. A tropical paradise within your reach, it has a long stretch of shoreline with cream sandy beach, enticing clear water and a variety of fun activities tucked in natural setting. One could enjoy the many water activities that many of the beach resorts in Laiya offer. Such as jet ski, banana boat ride, flying fish, among many others. A wide array of resorts are also available, from high-end beach resorts to affordable inns and lodges.

HOW TO GET THERE: From Manila (Buendia or Cubao), take a bus bound for Lipa City. Then take a jeepney bound for San Juan. In San Juan Public Market, there are jeepneys and tricycle that will take you to Laiya Beach.

4. Calatagan, Batangas


Probably, Calatagan has the longest shoreline in the province of Batangas. Located at the western side of the province, it offers best sunsets for everyone to enjoy. There are also many beach resorts in Calatagan that cater to the needs of visiting tourists.

MUST DO ACTIVITIES: When in Calatagan, one should not miss visiting the centuries-old Cape Santiago Lighthouse. There's also a resort in Calatagan named Lago de Oro Resort that offers wake boarding. You may check it out too!

HOW TO GET THERE: From Manila (Pasay, Lawton or Cubao), take a bus bound for Calatagan. Upon arrival in Calatagan, you'll find tricycles that will take you to the resorts.

5. Tingloy Island, Batangas


Located off the coast of Anilao, in Mabini Batangas, Tingloy is one of the most popular beaches near Metro Manila and has become a favorite among backpackers and budget travelers in recent years. Known for its semi-white sandy beach called Masasa Beach, the place is still undeveloped and there are still no hotels or resorts on the island. But since many tourists are now visiting the island, some residents now offer their homes for overnight stay. You may also opt to bring a tent if camping is your thing. Just don't forget to bring all you need such as food and be sure to have you batteries and power banks fully charged.

MUST DO ACTIVITIES: Beach bumming, camping, swimming, snorkeling.

HOW TO GET THERE: Tingloy can be reached via the same route when you go to Anilao. Take a bus bound for Batangas City from Cubao or Buendia and get off at Batangas City Terminal. From there, take a jeepney bound for Mabini, Batangas. Upon arrival at Anilao Port, you will find boats that will take you to Tingloy Island.

WHERE TO STAY: Masasa Beach in Tingloy Island now has a lot of resorts and accommodations catering to visiting tourists. It is also a good day trip from Anilao. So, if you want to visit Tingloy while still enjoying the comforts of a resort accommodation, you may check out the numerous resorts in Anilao.

6. Nasugbu, Batangas


The town of Nasugbu is known of its beach coves and rugged mountains that meet the white sand shores and pristine blue waters. It is also a favorite among mountaineers for it's scenic Mt. Batulao.

As suggested by my friend, Jay B, if you're looking for an uncrowded, uncommercialized beach for a weekend getaway that is just a few hours outside Metro Manila you may opt to explore Layag-Layag Beach Cove, a favorite camping spot of choice, located in the fishing village of Brgy. Papaya in Nasugbu, Batangas.

MUST DO ACTIVITIES: The beach is perfect if you want adventure and camping, to be carefree and sun-drenched. The cove is teeming with charm of its beautiful crystal-clear water beach, pretty soft pebbled off-white sands, intersecting crashing sea waves, a cliff dive spot on the side, scenic view of sail shaped rock/island which you can access during low tide, and a glimpse of the beautiful Hamilo Coast. It may have some garbage problem due to campers remnants during camping just being left there, and other factors like typhoons washing up those garbage on shore. Lets all be a responsible travelers,and be reminded of the principles of LNT (Leave-no-trace) always.

Nonetheless, its a nice quick getaway from the hustle and bustle of the big city life

Reminder that the island has no electricity, no cottage, no restrooms, no stores (bring all your supplies), perfect for desolation.

HOW TO GET THERE:
  1. Private Car via Ternate -Kaybiang Tunnel. Search for Brgy Papaya near Hamilo Coast.
  2. Just ride a DLTB bus going to Nasugbu in Buendia/Pasay and drop off at Nasugbu town proper,travel time is about 2-3 hours.
  3. From there you will ride a tricycle (300 /way) to reach barangay Papaya, travel time is less than an hour.
  4. From barangay Papaya you will have to ride a small boat to reach Layag Layag beach, travel time is about 15-20 minutes. You may contact Kuya Casiano at 09398638839 for the boat ride which costs 600 pesos for a maximum of 5 person (roundtrip).

Beaches in Batangas
Lobo, Batangas

7. Lobo, Batangas


The coastal villages of Lobo, Batangas is dotted with beautiful rocky beaches. There are also some beach resorts in the area where you could spend a night with your family, friends or loved ones. If you don't know where to stay, the friendly staff at the Lobo Tourism Office could help you. You can find them at the town proper. Or maybe, just ask the locals.

MUST DO ACTIVITIES: When in Lobo, you should not miss visiting the centuries-old Malabrigo Lighthouse, as well as watching the beautiful sunset at the beach, or climb one of its mountains.

HOW TO GET THERE: From Manila (Cubao or Pasay), take a bus bound for Batangas City and get off at the Batangas City Grand Terminal. From there, take a Batangas City-Balagtas jeepney and tell the driver to drop you at the Lobo Jeepney Terminal near SM City Batangas. Then take the jeepney going to Lobo.

RECOMMENDED RESORT IN LOBO: When we were in Lobo, we stayed at Jay-Ar Beach Resort which is located about 30 minutes away from the town proper. It is also just 20-30 minutes away to Malabrigo Lighthouse. Also, what I like is that they offer affordable rooms ideal for group of friends and families.

Since it's just an hour away from Batangas City, the town of Lobo also makes an awesome day trip from Batangas City.

WHERE TO STAY: There are many resorts in Lobo Batangas that offers decent accommodation for tourists. Or you may also opt to stay in the many hotels and resorts in Batangas City.

MATABUNGKAY BEACH RESORTS LIAN BATANGAS RESORTS WITH SWIMMING POOL

8. Lian, Batangas


This town's claim to fame is its Matabungkay Beach which is said to have been discovered by German tourists way back in the 1950s. When I was a kid, I remember going here in one summer vacation. It is really one of the most popular beach destination near Metro Manila back in the 80's. Today, Lian Batangas still has some beach resorts that you could spend a night for that quick weekend getaway just 2 hours away from Metro Manila.

HOW TO GET THERE: Buses bound for Calatagan passes by the town of Lian. You may take Calatagan-bound buses from Pasay, Buendia or Coastal Mall in ParaƱaque.

9. Bauan, Batangas


Unknown to many, Bauan also offers beaches with awesome underwater marine life. If you want to try and experience diving, there are resorts in Bauan that offer intro to dive lessons. One of them is Binukbok Viewpoint Resort located at Brgy. San Pablo, Bauan, Batangas. They also have cottages and nipa huts where you could stay overnight.

HOW TO GET THERE: Take a bus bound for Batangas City and alight at Batangas City Grand Terminal. From there, take a jeepney to Bauan. If you,re going to Binukbok Viewpoint Resort, take a bus bound to Lemery. These buses can be found in Pasay and Coastal Mall. Upon arrival in Lemery, hire a tricycle to Brgy. Balite, San Luis, Batangas where you could find the the resort's parking lot. From there, you will take a 20-minute boat ride to the resort.

10. Fortune Island, Nasugbu Batangas


As suggested by a friend, Fortune Island is also a must-visit beach in Batangas. Located in the municipality of Nasugbu, Fortune Island is famous for its Greek-inspired column ruins and statues from what looks like a private rest house or beach resort in Batangas that used to stand on this lovely island.

MUST DO ACTIVITIES: Beach bumming, camping, swimming, snorkeling, cam whoring, star gazing.

HOW TO GET THERE: Take a bus bound for Nasugbu or Calagatan from Buendia, Pasay, Cubao, Coastal Mall, or Alabang and get off at Nasugbu Terminal. Upon arrival, take a tricycle to barangay Wawa. From there, you'll find many boats that will take you to Fortune Island.
