Marinduque - Provincial Capitol Building

Marinduque is a heart-shaped island situated south of the island of Luzon. Considered as the smallest province in Southern Tagalog (Region IV-B), it is composed of six municipalities, namely Mogpog, Sta Cruz, Torrijos, Buenavista, Gasan and the capital town of Boac. One of the many tourist spots in the island is its 1927 provincial capitol building.

Located near Dr. Damian Reyes Memorial Hospital (Provincial Hospital) and Camp Maximo Abad, the capitol building features towering columns on its facade with stairs leading to the main entrance. Displayed at the upper part of it's facade are the seals of the six towns of the province.

Efforts have been initiated to the National Historical Institute to declare it a Historical or Heritage Site.

HOW TO GET THERE

BY LAND AND SEA – From Manila take a bus bound for Lucena City, Quezon. Tell the driver that you will be alighting at the port of Lucban. Fare is around P140-P160. If you are bound for the eastern side of the island, take a ferry bound for Sta. Cruz. If you are going to the western side of the island, take a ferry bound for Cawit port in Boac, fares should be around P350-500. Montenegro Shipping Lines has RORO ships that leaves Lucena port daily.
