Sorsogon - Bulusan Town to Bulusan Volcano Natural Park, my first Top Loading Experience

After visiting the old church and ruins in Barcelona, I continued my journey. Now, I'm heading further south to the town of Bulusan. I patiently waited for a jeepney bound for Bulusan with no passenger in the front seat as I wanted to enjoy the scenery. As we traverse through the national hi-way, great expanse of rice fields and a mountain range on my right and the coastal area on my left kept me accompanied for the rest of the travel. What a sight!

Barcelona in the province of Sorsogon is located at 631 KM south of Manila. It is said that the place was called Barcelona because homesick Spaniards find its topography similar to Barcelona of Spain. A charming town known for the century-old Barcelona Church dedicated to St. Joseph, considered as one of Bicol region's oldest churches.

Another must-visit resort in Marabut Samar is the Caluwayan Palm Island Beach Resort. Considered as one of the best vacation spots in Samar, it also offers breathtaking view of several towering rock formations and islets. Just like the Marabut Extreme Experience, it also lies on a cove facing San Pedro Bay along the shoreline of Brgy. Caluwayan.

Samar - I found Serenity and not Extreme Adventure at Marabut Extreme Experience Resort

After spending 2 hours in Balangiga, Eastern Samar, I decided to continue my journey, this time to the town of Marabut in Samar. This coastal town is known for its clusters of minute jagged limestone islets that are visible from the coastline. I hailed a public van bound for Tacloban City and paid 100 pesos for a 1 hour trip to Marabut Extreme Experience Resort in Brgy. Osmeña.

As I've mentioned in my previous post, the new DOT campaign is certainly very simple, yet its flexible and catchy! It has gone viral on the internet in the past week and everyone had come up with their own versions of showing that "It's More Fun in the Philippines"! I'm sharing to you my own versions of the meme.

Eastern Samar - Balangiga Massacre, Town Church and the Lost Bells

After exploring Catbalogan City and failing to swim at Kinabut-an spring, I went back to the pension house to freshen-up and had my dinner. I slept early so I could get up at 4:00 AM to catch the first trip to Tacloban City. Nope, I'm not exploring Tacloban City again, I just need to get a transportation to Guiuan, Eastern Samar bacause my destination today is the town of Balangiga, also in Eastern Samar.

Last night, while I was on my way home I received a text message from the researcher of GMA News TV. The interview that we had last December 3, 2011 will be aired on the show "State of the Nation with Jessica Soho" Channel 11. I was excited! Unfortunately I wasn't able to watch it, as it was shown on TV because I am still on the road.

The Philippine Department of Tourism has unveiled this morning its much awaited tourism campaign. "It's more fun in the Philippines". I must say, that it's simple, colorful and catchy! I like the use of the weavings in the "banig" to picture the Philippine map. I love it and will definitely support the campaign!

Samar - Catbalogan City Tour and My Attempt to Swim at Kinabut-an Springs

Without any concrete plan, I took a van from Calbayog going to Catbalogan City. I still don't know what to expect or see there. I didn't even bother to book for an accommodation. All I know is I'll be spending the night there. I just want to be there... I want to experience Catbalogan City...

Samar - Calbayog City Tour and Meeting the City's Tourism Officers

This is another "let's-see-what-happens" trip that I had during the last quarter of 2011. I really had no plans of exploring Calbayog City, I just intend to make it as an entry point to the province of Samar. Good thing that a few days before my trip, I was referred by Josiah of lakas.com.ph to DOT region 8 for assistance on this trip. I was contacted by Patrick, a staff of the said office and he told me that he has already endorsed me to the tourism office of Calbayog City.
