Pasalubong Suggestions from the Philippines

It is natural for us Filipinos to be thoughtful and always eager to share to our loved ones the joy of our travels. That is why, aside from great memories and awesome photos of our travels, we always want to bring home "something" from that memorable trips we had. Travelers often find it easy to load up on the usual and common "pasalubongs," like ref magnets of tourist destinations or key chains with the name of the city in cursive font. But that has always been the "usual pasalubong," that someone might already given to an office-mate, a friend or relative.

Misamis Oriental - Sauntering Around Cagayan de Oro City

After surviving the ziplines in Dahilayan Adventure Park and being stunned by Manolo Fortich’s vast pineapple plantations, I went back to Cagayan de Oro City to check out of my hostel. Since I haven’t really been around the city and I still have a couple of hours to burn before my flight back to Manila, I took a leisurely walk around the busy city and checked on some of its interesting sites.

Bukidnon - In Transit : Cagayan De Oro to Dahilayan Adventure Park

It's day 3 of my Solo Northern Mindanao Adventure! And I'm going to try the zip lines at Dahilayan Adventure Park. Woohoo! I woke early to catch the first trip to Libona, Bukidnon. These jeepneys pass by Camp Phillips in the town of Manolo Fortich - the jump-off point for Dahilayan Adventure Park. From my hostel, I took a cab going to Gusa terminal (PHP 70) where jeepneys bound for Libona are stationed. I arrived an hour ahead of the first trip which is at 6:30 AM. So to kill some time, I had coffee and some biscuits for breakfast in a nearby eatery.

WHERE TO EAT IN CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Divisoria Night Market, Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental

Cagayan de Oro City in Misamis Oriental was my home-base for 3 days during my adventure trip to Northern Mindanao early this month. Upon arrival at Lumbia Airport, I went out of the airport and took a jeepney bound for Carmen. This is the cheapest way of getting to the city center; it's 17 pesos instead of paying 250 - 300 pesos for a one-way trip to the city center on a cab. From Carmen, I took another jeepney bound for Bonbon and alight at Plaza Divisoria (7 PHP).
