Who Are Favourites to Win 2022’s Champions League?

Who Are Favourites to Win 2022’s Champions League?

As this year's Champions League campaign comes to an end, people can begin to see the shape of next season's competition. The majority of the involved teams have already secured their place, while all the competition's favourites will look to get their hands on the famous trophy. The transfer market will prove pivotal in the race for European glory, but until it closes, fans can still make their predictions for next season.

So what teams are the favourites to lift the trophy next season? If you want to assess these teams to try to pick the right call, go ahead. If one of the following teams doesn’t lift the trophy at the end of the season, it would be massively surprising.

Manchester City

Last season's runners-up will likely start the campaign as favourites as they have done many times in recent years. Pep Guardiola’s men fell short on the last hurdle in 2021, so City have to wait for their first European title for at least another year. Despite the loss, City have a phenomenal team, mastermind manager, and the ability to go one better next year.

Bayern Munich

The Champions League winners of 2020 were always going to be included in the list of favourites for the coming season. Despite being knocked out in the quarter finals by PSG, Bayern Munich looked phenomenal throughout the campaign. Some changes in Munich are expected this summer with some of their more senior players heading out. Could these changes help them achieve more Champions League glory?

Liverpool

At the start of last season, everyone expected Liverpool to make it far in the Champions League. However, due to an injury-struck squad they had a relatively lackluster season. The former champions have already strengthened their defence, signing Ibrahimi KonatΓ© from RB Leipzig. His addition as well as the return of many key players indicate that the Liverpool of old will be back come September.

Chelsea

The champions themselves are definitely worth being in the discussion. The Blues saw off the likes of Sevilla, Atletico Madrid, Porto, Real Madrid, and Manchester City on their way to lifting the European Cup. It’s hard not to imagine them being a force in next season's campaign, especially if they bring in even more talent.

Real Madrid

Real Madrid had a very disappointing trophy-less season in 2021. They’ll look to get their hands on some silverware next time out, with the Champions League definitely in sight. With Carlo Ancelotti taking the reins, they will definitely be a new squad for other teams to fear.

FC Barcelona

With Sergio Aguero, Gini Wijnaldum, Eric Garcia, and potentially Memphis Depay, Barcelona are really strengthening their squad this year. Last summer was a bit of a mess for the Catalans. This year they seem considerably more settled, the players’ futures seem more certain and Ronald Koeman has had a chance to build the squad he wants. Even without those things considered, any team with Lionel Messi in is going to be contending for silverware.
