Agusan del Sur - Masapya Falls, another Must-see Attraction at the Bunawan Ecopark

Lolong is not the only attraction in Bunawan Ecopark. As I roamed around the ecopark, I found this waterfalls just a few meters away from Lolong's cage. I went down the steep and slippery trail that leads to this small waterfalls. I saw two levels, the one on the upper portion is just cascading to a stream that leads to the lower portion of the falls.

The main falls looks like a mini Maria Christina Falls, with a stone at the middle that separates the flow of the water.

The water cascades and flows freely into a catch basin ten meter below. There is also a bamboo raft which you can ride to get near the waterfalls. At the time of my visit the area is being developed, probably as a swimming and picnic area for visitors.

I wanted to get a good shot of the falls, unfotunately I can't find the way to the front of the falls. :(

I left the ecopark clueless as to what's the name of this waterfalls is. So I searched for it on the net and I found out that it's called Masapya Falls.

This is another must-see attraction when visiting Bunawan Ecopark. Hopefully when I comeback here, all the amenities and attractions will be fully set-up. This will certainly boost Bunawan's eco-tourism potentials.

  2. I've been to Lolong's lair but I missed the waterfalls. I can hear the gushing sound of the water but didn't expore anymore because it was almost closing time when we got there. Good for you to get snapshots of the falls.
