Planning a trip to Vigan and Ilocos Sur soon? Here are the latest Vigan and Ilocos Sur travel requirements, entry protocols, and travel guidelines for tourists, visitors and other types of travelers!


As of March 1, 2022, the Province of Ilocos Sur is under Alert Level 1 until March 15, 2022. It is open for tourism and leisure travels! Tourists coming from GCQ (General Community Quarantine), MGCQ (Modified General Community Quarantine), Alert Levels 1, 2, and 3 are allowed to enter the province with no age restrictions. Below are the Ilocos Sur Travel Requirements according to the Department of Tourism (DOT) Philippines' website.

Vigan City was named as one of New 7 Wonders Cities

Vigan City, the capital of Ilocos Sur has been selected through an online global voting as one of the New 7 Wonders Cities. The list of the New 7 Wonders Cities was announced in Dubai, United Arab Emirates by Bernard Weber, Founder and President of the New7Wonders via a YouTube announcement on December 8, 2014 at around 3:00 AM, Manila time.

Finalists for the New7Wonder Cities

Yesterday, October 21, 2013, Bernard Weber, Founder-President of New7Wonders annouced the official list of the 28 Finalists for the New7Wonders Cities campaign. I am very happy that Vigan in Ilocos Sur was included on the list as chosen by popular votes and as advised by the New7Wonders Cities Panel of Experts. This will be the start of the global online voting which will run on three elimination phases and will end of December 7, 2014.

Ilocos Sur - Re-visiting the Heritage City of Vigan

Since the town of Bantay is just outside the Historic Heritage City of Vigan, we decided to just walk towards the town square. This leisurely walk brings back memories when I first set foot in Vigan, in 2004. It was a quick trip with my cousins, a time when analog cameras were still widely used and cellphone camera's resolution was only VGA. Hahaha! I'm happy to be back in Vigan, the capital City of the Province of Ilocos Sur known to be the only heritage city in the country.
