BATANES TRAVEL GUIDE How to Get to Itbayat

Itbayat is the largest island in the entire Batanes group of islands. It is a municipality located northwest of Batan Island and the closest inhabited island to Taiwan. It is bounded on the east by the Pacific Ocean, by the South China Sea on the west and by small uninhabited islands in the north such Siayan, Matarem, Misanga and Mavudis islands. Traveling in Comfort with Isarog Bus Lines' Sleeper Bus

I've been to Legapi City for 4 times already. On all of those trips, I flew in via Legazpi and flew out from the same airport or via Naga City. This time, I wanted to try something new. I flew in via Legazpi City airport, and traveled by bus on my way home. I wasn't really sure if I could endure the 12-hour land travel, but I have to give it a try. I am not into long bus rides as I have this congenital back problem called "sacralization of the L5 on S1" which makes me prone to back pains if I am seated for such a long time. Good thing the bus we took on our way back to Manila is a sleeper bus.

Sorsogon - Bulusan Town to Bulusan Volcano Natural Park, my first Top Loading Experience

After visiting the old church and ruins in Barcelona, I continued my journey. Now, I'm heading further south to the town of Bulusan. I patiently waited for a jeepney bound for Bulusan with no passenger in the front seat as I wanted to enjoy the scenery. As we traverse through the national hi-way, great expanse of rice fields and a mountain range on my right and the coastal area on my left kept me accompanied for the rest of the travel. What a sight!

Northern Samar - My Best and Worst Experiences in Northern Samar

This is just another "I'll go and see what happens" trip that I had recently. I managed to book a round trip airfare tickets with Cebu Pacific during their seat sale last March. For only 378 pesos all-in, I had a quick tour around Catarman in Northern Samar and its nearby towns. No plans, no itinerary prepared, I just want to be there.

Davao Del Norte - Habal-habal Ride in Samal Island

As most people say, you've never been to Samal Island if you don't experience riding a “habal-habal”. This single motorcycle is the most common ride you would find in the island of Samal, especially when going around the tourists spots in the island. There are no standard fees as each driver or operator charges differently. It also vary depending on where you want to go and how long your tour will be.

In our case, we took 3 motorcycles which the resort contacted for us. At first they were charging us Php 1,000 pesos for each motorcycle. It's a bit pricey because the resort definitely has a commission on the payment that we will be paying them.

The Light Rail Transit System Line No. 1 consists of the 15 km elevated railway system servicing the Taft Avenue - Rizal Avenue route between Baclaran, Pasay City and the Bonifacio Monument in the City of Caloocan. It is considered to be the first LRT system in Southeast Asia.

Gil Puyat Station

Line 1 has a length of about 15 km and runs from Baclaran in Pasay City to Monumento in Caloocan City. Pasay City lies in the south-west section of Metro Manila, close to the airport. From there, the line runs in a north-western direction, parallel to the Bay but at some distance from it along Taft Avenue to the Manila City Hall, where the central terminal is located, then through Arroceros Street, across the Pasig River, entering the Santa Cruz district at Feati University. From there, it follows Rizal Avenue and Rizal Avenue Extension in a northerly direction to the terminal at Monumento in Caloocan City. (Source: /www.lrta.gov.ph)

Pinoy Transpo : My 1st Manila LRT Purple Line Ride - November 14, 2010

Last night, on our way home from a weekend get-away in a resort in San Mateo Rizal, me and my friends decided to take the LRT 2 (purple line).

The Megatren, more popularly known by its generic name Line 2, is a 13.8 km mass transit line that traverses five cities in Metro Manila namely Pasig, Marikina, Quezon City, San Juan and Manila along the major thoroughfares of Marcos Highway, Aurora Boulevard, Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard, Legarda and Recto Avenue. (www.lrta.gov.ph/line2_megatren.htm)

We took the train at Katipunan station, which is said to be the first and only underground air-conditioned station. Since, it's my first time to ride the LRT 2, I was so amazed on the size of their trains. They are huge!!!

All I can say is WOW!!! Katipunan Station is awesome, I thought I was not in Manila. Hehehe!!!

It's my first time, let me have a souvenir photo taken. Hehehe!!!

Ricky and Joan, it's also their 1st time to ride the LRT 2.

It's a Sunday, not too much commuters...

Pinoy Transpo : PNR e-ticket

Since I had my first experience riding the PNR trains in March, I've been riding it almost everyday to go to the office. Last Tuesday (June 1), I was surprised to see the new e-ticket that they issue in Buendia Station. Sosyal na ha? Dati, sinusulat lang... hehehe!!! But in some stations, they still have that "old-fashioned" tickets (below).

In November 2007, when I started working in Makati, I always pass by the PNR railways located in Buendia. I've been wanting to try it and feel how is it to ride one of the Philippines' oldest means of transportation.
