Surfing is a sport that I always try whenever possible. Though I'm not that good at it, I try to learn the sport the best I can. The Philippines as sandwiched between the South China Sea and the Pacific Ocean, it has plenty of shorelines and a number of excellent surf spots where you could try your skills in balancing over a fast-moving board. Bato is a small, quaint town located on the southwest part of the island of Catanduanes. It is probably well-known for its century old church built on a small hill facing Bato River and greets everyone upon entrance to the town. It took 53 years and six different parish administrations, from 1830 to 1883, to build.

Inagurated by President Noynoy Aquino last May 2, 2012, the PAGASA-DOST Weather Radar Station in Barangay Buenavista, Municipality of Bato, Catanduanes is considered as one of the most advanced radar station in the world. It is the eighth radar station installed in the country at an estimated cost of 500 million pesos with fundings from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

After exploring Caramoan Islands and seeing the Survivors, we went back to Virac, Catanduanes and checked-in at Catanduanes Midtown Hotel. After fixing ourselves it's time for us to have dinner. As per suggestion from the hotel staff, we walked towards the port area and dined at Sea Breeze Restaurant located along Virac's seaside boulevard.

Caramoan islands is a famous tourist destination located in the farthest coast of the province of Camarines Sur. Well-known for islands and islets, as well as white sand beaches, lagoons, limestone cliffs and rich marine life, Caramoan can be reached via Sabang port in the town of San Jose, Camarines Sur which takes about 1 hour of travel from Manila by plane and another 2 hours by bus from Naga City and another 2 hours to the islands by boat from Sabang Port.

Catanduanes, My 57th Province!

Last March 24-26, 2012 I went on a journey with my friends Billy, Cris and Edmund to Catanduanes, my 57th province! Since all of us haven't been to Caramoan Islands, we also visited the islands and islets closest to Codon port. We really had an awesome time just hanging around and exploring the stunning sights of this island province in Bicol region.
