Planning a trip to South Korea this 2022? Take advantage of the Visa-Free Entry to South Korea for Filipinos and other nationalities!


In a recent announcement posted by the South Korean Embassy in the Philippines, it says the Korean government will allow visa-free entry of Filipino tourists to Jeju Island and Yangyang starting today, June 1, 2022.

Visa-Free Entry to South Korea for Filipinos


For Jeju, Filipino tourists are allowed to enter the beautiful island via direct flights only and stay up to 30 days. Some airlines are reportedly planning to schedule direct flights from the Philippines to Jeju soon. However, tourists are not permitted to travel to other regions outside Jeju.

For Yangyang, Filipino tourists are required to book a group tour program arranged by a designated travel agency. They are allowed to stay up to 15 days and travel around the cities and places in Gangwon Province and Seoul Metropolitan Area only. Please be advised that they must travel back to the Philippines via the Yangyang International airport.

Please note that foreign tourists are still required to comply with the existing health protocols.

The Korean Embassy hopes that the visa-free entry will promote people-to-people exchanges between Korea and the Philippines via tourism.

Eligibility: Nationals from all countries except for the following 23 countries designated by the Minister of Justice.
  • Iran, Sudan, Syria, Cuba, Kosovo, Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq, Ghana, Nigeria, Yemen, Egypt, Gambia, Senegal, Bangladesh, Kyrgyz, Pakistan, Somalia, Uzbekistan, Nepal, Cameroon, Sri Lanka, Myanmar

The following 9 countries/regions which suspended visa-free entry under reciprocity will be temporarily excluded until further notice. .

Visa Free Entry to Yangyang South Korea


Yangyang International Airport will implement visa-free entry for group tourists to 3 Asian countries starting from June 1, 2022.

Eligibility: Nationals of 4 Asian countries (Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Mongolia) who:
  • Booked a tour program arranged by a designated travel agency
  • Are fully vaccinated against COVID-19
  • Scheduled to fly in and out of Yangyang airport on the same flight with the tour group consisting of 5 or more people

Allowed Travel Area: Gangwon Province and Seoul Metropolitan Area.

Status and Period of Stay: Eligible travelers of this scheme will be given the Tourist/Transit visa (B-2-94), instead of Short Term Visit visa (C-3-2), and will be allowed to stay for 15 days.

Implementation Period: Vietnam, the Philippines, and Indonesia: June 1, 2022 to May 31, 2023. Mongolia: starting on October 1, 2022 to May 31, 2023.

Requirements:
  • Comply with quarantine measures such as being fully vaccinated before entering the Republic of Korea.
  • Arrive and depart Yangyang airport on the same flight as a group.
  • Agree to be accompanied by a local staff and to pay the service fee
  • Agree to provide information necessary for tour group entry such as personal information.

  1. Planning to travel this May or June with my family. As Philippine passport holders, can we fly directly to Jeju Island without employing a Philippine Travel agency? Also, is a Travel or medical insurance required and also PCR test etc? Help please.
