Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands and boasts 29 well-appointed 5-star hotels. Rumours of its volcano, Mount Teide’s, potential eruption in October of 2016 are unfounded according to the Volcanology Institute of the Canary Islands which continuously monitors seismographic data. So, with a luxurious, safe stay in mind, where are the best places to rest your head and have a great holiday in Tenerife?

Hotel Las Madrigueras Golf Resort and Spa

If you want to have a superb golfing holiday at what can be described as a beautiful boutique of a hotel than this is for you. The resort has been laid out with the golfer in mind – the rooms are within a short distance of your private locker and from there to your own buggy and a few minutes to the tee! As you may expect this is an adults-only hotel where you can improve your game in peace and tranquillity.

Royal Garden Villas

Continuing the popular golfing theme is the Royal Garden Villas situated in the chic Costa Adeje area near two golf courses. As a smaller hotel you definitely experience the friendly atmosphere and the more personal touch from the staff. They have one, two and three bedroom villas available. The one bedroom villas are furnished with double beds, a private pool and free WiFi. Depending on your preferences the WiFi may be an essential or a detriment to your holiday enjoyment. The benefits of the villas compared to a regular hotel are the privacy of your own place with the same levels of security you would expect.

Vincci SelecciΓ³n La PlantaciΓ³n del Sur

This hotel is a larger establishment and prides itself on offering top quality local cuisine at its Gourmet Canario Restaurant. The breakfasts, in particular, are worth a mention being both varied and delicious which is ideal to wake up to after a comfortable and relaxing night’s sleep. Evening meals are delightful at the Jaima Bar and Restaurant buffet with its dress code of smart but casual being a welcome rule. Its stunning ‘Nammu’ spa is 2,500 square yards of relaxation heaven. The staff are really friendly – not in a fake way – and it’s a genuine pleasure to stay here. The garden pool areas are magnificent and the gym facilities are well organised. Activities such yoga, pilates and aerobics are available with an instructor. Children are welcomed to their own MiniClub with professional childminders on hand to supervise and make sure they have a great time.

Iberostar Grand Hotel El Mirador

If you are trying to escape the noise and hassle of a holiday with children then the adults-only Grand Hotel El Mirador could be your haven on this beautiful island. 120 fabulous suites nestle in this prime location on the Costa Adeje opposite the Playa del Duque. Relax in the gardens, the 6,600 square foot heated outdoor swimming pool, restaurants and spa or go for adventurous catamaran sailing, banana boat experience or mountain bike riding – all aimed at providing you with an opulent getaway. You can also spend time in the VIP luxury of the hotel’s La Balconada.

Hotel Sir Anthony

This hotel is situated in the Playa de las Americas, the southern part of the island famous for its thriving nightlife. The Hotel Sir Anthony is in walking distance of Los Cristianos, a resort offering fishing trips, diving and sailing in glass bottomed boats. You can also go to the water attractions of Siam Park and Aqualand. The hotel itself is surprisingly quiet considering its proximity! Its pool overlooks the beach and the layout is designed to put you in mind of your own private facility. Room service is top notch and nothing appears to be too much trouble for the staff. We advise waiting until January 2017 before booking here as there are some building works going on during weekdays.

Baobab Suites

Spacious, clean and with friendly staff sums up all of the luxury hotels on offer. This is very true of the Baobab Suites with their spotless large rooms, extensive pools and easy access on to the sandy beaches on the west coast of the island. The balconies offer amazing views over the crystal clear blue waters of the North Atlantic Ocean. The hotel prides itself on catering for families – the Saplings is their very own kids’ club aimed at children up to the age of 12 years old. Activities, entertainment and games, baby toys stimulate their minds and bodies and are an ideal way of having fun out of the scorching midday sun. They even offer a private babysitting service in your suite to allow parents to have some time to themselves.

Monterey Royale

The Monterey Royale is CLC World’s flagship resort boasting top class accommodation of one to three bedrooms, private terraces with ocean views and features like Jacuzzis on balconies. Their sister hotel, CLC Sunningdale village, is equally as good and a little cheaper.

Over 3,000 hours of sun each year and only a short 5 minute walk to the Playa de las Americas helps make it one of the top hotels in Tenerife. The Sunset restaurant has a special atmosphere during the evenings when you can take one of their varied selections of cocktails as a pre-dinner aperitif and dine luxuriously from a specially prepared menu. For entertainment and excitement you can head to Siam Park or Loro Parque but if you prefer less tourist-oriented excursions why not head to the little island of La Gomera following in the footsteps of Columbus? Or take a climb up the unspoiled volcanic hillside of Mount Teide – an experience you won’t soon forget!

We hope this selection of seven luxury hotels will whet your appetite for a well-deserved trip to this ‘Island of a Thousand experiences’. With delightful places to stay and so much to see and do we know you’ll have a great time!
