On September 5, 2016, Malacanang Palace released Proclamation 56, S. 2016 declaring Monday, September 12, 2016, as a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of Eid'l Adha (Feast of Sacrifice). With this, we will be having a long weekend from September 10-12, 2016!

PROCLAMATION NO. 56

DECLARING MONDAY, 12 SEPTEMBER 2016, AS A REGULAR HOLIDAY THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY IN OBSERVANCE OF EID’L ADHA (FEAST OF SACRIFICE)



WHEREAS, Eid’l Adha is one of the two greatest feasts of Islam;

WHEREAS, Republic Act no. 9849 provides that Eid’l Adha shall be celebrated as a regular holiday;

WHEREAS, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos has recommended that the observance of Eid’l Adha be on 12 September 2016;

NOW, THEREFORE, I RODRIGO ROA DUTERTE, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Monday, 12 September 2016, as a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of Eid’l Adha (Feast of Sacrifice).

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

DONE in the City of Manila, this 5th day of September in the year of Our Lord, Two Thousand and Sixteen.
