Capul is a historic island municipality in the province of Northern Samar. According to folklore, the name "Capul" came from the word Acapulco, signifying its important role on the Manila-Acapulco Galleon Trade. Sitting in the middle of the treacherous waters of San Bernardino Strait, it is well-known for its ancient fortress church, Spanish-era lighthouse and its local language called "Inabaknon" or "Abaknon", which is a unique language only used in Capul.

  6. nice post! I went there alone almost two years ago, took the Looc Port (i didn't even know the port's name then, i just asked around for directions) which is the most convenient. It's good to know they already have someone manning their tourism office (during my visit, i was just referred to the mayor's aunt (i think) to make arrangements for my lodging. The island has a lot to offer -from stunning views, breathtaking sunset and sunrise, nice beach, an old church and very friendly people. It's really an off-the-beaten path destination but it's worth it!
