Singapore Zoo and Night Safari Adventure (with Tips and Reminders, Ticket Prices, Photos, and More!)

Travel Guide 2017 Singapore Zoo and Night Safari

Dubbed as "the world's best rainforest zoo," Singapore Zoo is a great place to explore for wildlife adventurers. Known to have animals in naturalistic, 'open' exhibits with hidden barriers, or glass enclosures, families will surely love spending a day at Singapore Zoo. This 26-hectare wildlife park is nestled within the lush Mandai rain forest of Singapore, which gives visitors an awesome and unique wildlife experience.

Travel Guide 2017 Singapore Zoo and Night Safari

During our visit to Singapore last month, two of the activities we tried is a tour around Singapore Zoo and the Night Safari. Both activities are offered by Klook where park tickets can be bought online - giving us the convenience of booking in advance and skipping the ticket lines. Since it is located outside the city center, you can also purchase bus transfers from the city to Singapore Zoo via Klook.

Singapore Zoo

Singapore Zoo is a huge complex and will take about a whole day to fully maximize your visit. It is divided into several zones such as Wild Africa, Frozen Tundra, Fragile Forest, Austaliasia, Great Rift Valley of Ethiopia, Treetops Trail, Gibbon Island, Primate Kingdom, Reptile Garden, Tortoise Shell-ter, and the Tropical Crops and Orchids Garden. One of my favorites is the Wild Africa where we saw some Giraffes, African Lion, White Rhinoceros, Tiger, Leopard, and Zebras.

Another personal favorite of mine is the Austaliasia zone where we saw some Kangaroos and Wallaby. It's my first time to see a Kangaroo and I'm so happy to see it in person. Also not to be missed is the Primate Kingdom where you could see Singapore Zoo's 39 species of primates.

Night Safari

After exploring Singapore Zoo, we then proceeded to the nearby Night Safari. It's a unique wildlife experience where we rode a tram and toured around the Night Safari Zoo. This tour brought us to 6 of the world’s geographical regions - from the Indian Continent to the Asian Riverine Forests, and more.

Assisted with a tour guide aboard the open-sided tram, we went through the different zones of the Night Safari. We saw a Lion, Tigers, Elephants, Leopard, Cape Buffalo, Indian Wolf, Deer, and a lot more. This 40-minute tram tour at Night Safari is definitely one of the highlights of our Singapore Zoo adventure. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience and we truly enjoyed it!

After the tram tour, you may also do a walking trail tour at the zoo's fishing cat trail, leopard trail, east lodge trail, and wallaby trail. As some of the most fascinating animal exhibits cannot be seen from the tram, the walking tour will surely let you get to some of the animals up close and personal.

Not to be missed at Night Safari are the nightly Thumbuakar Performances at the entrance courtyard where pryo performers will wow you with their fire dances and stunts. Also, don't miss the "Creatures of the Night Show" where you will be amazed by animal presentations of the zoo's star animals such as Raccoons, Hyenas, Wolves, and more. It’s more than just an entertaining show, but also an educational show where they impart some tips on how to preserve the environment.
