HOTELS IN MANILA: Microtel Inn and Suites by Wyndham Mall of Asia

Microtel by Wyndham is an international chain of hotels located in different parts of the world, such as the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Philippines. It is member of the Wyndham Hotel Group, a well-known brand in the hotel industry in the Philippines that brings international hotel accommodation standards at reasonable rates. Earlier this month, I was fortunate to have a complimentary 2-night stay at Microtel Inn and Suites by Wyndham at Mall of Asia in Pasay City (Check discounted rates online). Nestled within the highly-developed SM Mall of Asia complex, Microtel Mall of Asia is just minutes away from SM Mall of Asia, Manila Ocean Park, SMX Convention Center, MOA Arena, and Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

In the Philippines, Microtel by Wyndham hotels are located in key cities and provinces such as Baguio, Tarlac, Batangas, Cavite, Boracay, Davao City, General Santos City, Cabanatuan, Puerto Princesa, South Forbes (near Nuvali Sta. Upon entering the lobby, I was impressed by the hotel's lovely interiors. The staff warmly greeted us with sweet smiles and assisted us to the reception area.

Since we already have a reservation, checking-in was fast and efficient; it only took us less than 10 minutes and we were given our electronic access key card. We were ushered to our room located at the 12th floor by their friendly staff. I'm happy with their elevator as it is new, state-of-start and quite fast.

STANDARD DOUBLE ROOM

Upon entering our room (Check discounted rates online), I instantly noticed the very nice view of Mall of Asia complex, the metropolitan skyline and the Manila Bay peeking at the window.

The room (see reviews online) is spacious and features modern and classy interiors with top-notch facilities and amenities. Our well-appointed standard double room has an array of essential amenities that are needed for a comfortable stay. It has 2 queen-sized beds with chiropractor-approved mattresses that are so soft and fluffy, it is joined to one side by a small bed table with a telephone and an alarm clock; it has fresh clean white sheets, huge fluffy pillows and blankets that compliments it so well. I tried it right away and I felt like I was melting into the bed as I lay my back on it. Very relaxing!

The room smells so fresh, clean and feels very comfortable as there are not so much clutter. Only the much needed amenities are inside the room, which I like. Other features include an individually-controlled air-conditioning unit, a cabinet, a television set with cable channels, a personal refrigerator, a safety deposit box, luggage rack and a small working desk. Truly, every guest will have a relaxing stay here that you'll end up just staying inside the comforts of your room.

The toilet and bathroom has hot and cold shower with rain shower feature. It comes with basic toiletries and bathroom amenities as well. Toiletries such as shampoo, bath soap and dental care are all provided. The body and hand towels are soft and all smell fresh! I couldn't ask for more, it's quite impressive. For me, it is very important to have a bathroom that is clean and well organized. Microtel Mall of Asia did not disappoint me, from the sink to the water closet with bidet, to the shower area, they are all clean and well-kept.

Microtel Mall of Asia has a total of 150 well-appointed air-conditioned rooms. It has three room types (single, double and suite), each having its own character and offers facilities that suit the varying needs of the guests. You can choose a room with a splendid view of the sunset and the Manila Bay or a very nice view of the city. Sixty four (64) rooms are standard double rooms with city view, 52 are standard rooms with sunset view, 3 are premium double rooms with corner view, 5 single rooms, 16 suite rooms with sunset view and 4 suite rooms with city view.

PREMIUM DOUBLE ROOMS

Premium Double Rooms are corner rooms with a spectacular view of the sunset and Manila bay. It also have 2 queen-size beds and is equipped with the much needed facilities needed for a comfortable stay.

SUITE ROOMS

Suite Rooms have 1 queen sized bed and a small living area with a sofa that can be converted into a bed which can be used by extra occupant in the room.

It also comes with the much needed amenities such as coffee/tea making facilities, refrigerator, microwave oven, kitchen counter with sink, a small dining area, an air-conditioning unit, a cabinet, a television set with cable channels, a telephone and a small work desk.

The toilet and bath is also spacious. It has a sink, water closet with bidet, hot and cold shower and a bath tub. Clean, fluffy towels and toiletries are also provided.

MILLIE'S RESTAURANT

Microtel Mall of Asia also has an in-house restaurant located at the ground floor. Millie's is an all-day dining restaurant that offers a wide array of international and Filipino cuisines. The buffet breakfast that comes with every booking is also served at Millie's from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM.

WIFI INTERNET CONNECTION

Complimentary internet connection are available at the lobby, the restaurant and at the pool area. There is an internet socket at the working desk inside the room, but I wasn't able to try it. I'm not sure if its also complimentary. It would be great if free wifi internet connection is available anywhere inside the hotel.

SWIMMING POOL

An added treat to hotel guests is the swimming pool at the hotel's rooftop. Since our room is at the top-most floor, we spent most of our time just lazying at the comfortable chairs at the pool side. That's one of the perks of being at the 12th floor, the swimming pool is a few steps away.

The best time to swim here is early morning or in the late afternoon with the stunning views of the sunset and the Manila bay as your backdrop.

I felt like I was instantly transported in a resort outside the busy metropolis. It was pure bliss to just enjoy the moment and the magical sunset. The sun drowned in the horizon and its rays fill the sky with radiant and vibrant colors, it's like a beautiful painting done in front of me.

FUNCTION ROOMS

They also have function rooms located at the 2nd floor ideal for private and corporate events such as wedding receptions, birthdays, meetings and conventions.

PUBLISHED RATES

Please check their website at www.microtel-manila.com for the updated room rates. Standard check-in time is at 2:00 PM and check-out time is 12:00 noon. Each booking comes with free breakfast at Millie's Restaurant for 2 persons. Children 11 and below can stay in the hotel for free. Maximum number of children allowed to stay for free depends on the room type booked.

Overall, we had an awesome and comfortable stay. True to their word, Microtel Inns and Suites Mall of Asia offers their guests, whether on business or leisure trips, with stylish and affordable rooms, top-notch facilities, and dependable services for a hassle-free stay. I love the blend of simplicity and contemporary luxury that Microtel Mall of Asia offers. Though it is located within a city, it is a haven of comfort and an ideal place to relish time away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
