TRAVEL TIPS: 7 Essentials for Island Adventures

7 Essentials for Island Adventures

When packing for any trip, you want to pack smart! We got you covered. Here’s a curated list of the top essentials you’ll need to bring along on your next island adventure.

1. Airy + Thin Clothing

Beat the heat and humidity with the right kind of clothing! The good thing about embarking on an island adventure is that you can literally pack light! In warm, humid climates, light and breathable fabrics are your best friends. We suggest sticking to light cotton and linen. For more intense activities like hiking, airy and quick-drying athletic wear can never lead you astray.

Tip for the tropics: light colors that cover your arms and legs should help keep mosquitos away.

2. Comfy Shoes

A comfortable, but durable pair of shoes is a must for your next trip. Choose a pair that will keep your feet dry and well-supported. Some of our staff faves include Nike Freeruns or Tevas - their fun styles are great for seashores or light hiking trails.

3. Lots of Sunscreen

Chances are, you’ll be visiting the Philippines during the dry season -- and because of its location near the equator, the sun’s rays can be especially strong and harmful. Bring a tube of sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to be your force field from the sun.

4. Awesome Accessories

Whether it’s a baseball cap, a snapback, or a floppy hat, be sure to bring some sort of headwear for extra sun shielding. Extra points if it’s light and breathable.

And to protect your eyes from UV rays, be sure to keep a pair of sunglasses with you at all times.

If you’re on a tropical island and rain is on the weather forecast, a light raincoat is always a great idea. The tropics are a wild place with unpredictable elements. In the dreary case of rain this will keep you nice and dry.

6. Swimsuit

Don’t forget to bring a swimsuit so you can dive into the serene blue waters! All other swim gear can usually be rented at really affordable prices.

Tip for social media: Bring your own mermaid tail and a GoPro and snap that for more likes!

7. Something for the memories

Capture the moments with your fave camera! Whether that be your iPhone or Polaroid -- you wanna make sure to remember all the great times you had and the beautiful things you see!
