The Miss Universe 2016 Pageant is scheduled to be held in Manila, Philippines on January 13 to January 30, 2017 (Coronation Night). The event is expected to boost our tourism as this will bring our country in the world map and there will be more people who will get interested about of country because of the pageant. Aside from Metro Manila, the candidates will also visit Davao City, Cebu, Siargao and Vigan in Ilocos Sur. The coronation night is scheduled on January 30, 2017, and it will be held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
In a news article published by businessmirror.com.ph, "Tourism Secretary Wanda Corazon T. Teo said on Thursday she will request to declare special holidays in Metro Manila during the coronation night and related events of the Miss Universe 2017 pageant to ease the traffic."
She also added, “I think he will agree,” Teo said in a news conference in Malacañang, when asked whether the President would declare special holidays during the Miss Universe 2017 pageant, which will organize events in the Philippines starting January 13 up to the coronation night on January 30.
So, are we expecting more non-working holidays in Metro Manila during the Miss Universe 2016 Pageant? Just like the special non-working holidays we had during the APEC Conference in Metro Manila last year?
Let's hope President Duterte agrees with DOT Secretary Teo's suggestion. This means more holidays for us to travel!
This post shall be updated as soon as an official declaration of the non-working holidays on January 2017 were released.
