To capture each memorable moment and to document my trips, a camera is one of basic things I need whenever I travel. I love cameras that are not just sturdy but can also take decent photos and videos that I could share to readers and followers. That is why, I am so happy when I was recently asked to test out one of Canon’s latest and greatest addition to its PowerShot bridge camera line-up, the CANON POWERSHOT SX60 HS.
The Canon PowerShot SX60 HS is definitely an ideal gear for your travels and adventures. I was pretty surprised by how light it is despite its sturdy built and having the features and capabilities of a DSLR camera. It boasts of a super-zoom compact lens with the world’s highest zoom capability in its class with a 65x optical zoom lens with a 35mm-equivalent focal range of 21-1365mm. It also promises excellent image quality with a 16.1 megapixel high-sensitivity CMOS sensor, ideal for travel and sports photographers where zoom empowers users to capture subjects from long distances.
What I also love about the Canon Powershot SX60 HS is the flip-out viewfinder which gives more options in terms of challenging compositions and angles. The grip fits just right on my hand and the controls were pretty easy to figure out.
The Canon PowerShot SX60 HS also provides exceptional control in video recording on a compact camera with Manual Movie mode. This movie mode lets you adjust settings such as shutter speed, aperture and ISO. It also comes with an external microphone terminal that can be used together with an optional external microphone for enhanced sound-capturing quality. The buttons and parts are all designed to be hushed to eliminate camera-related sound interference.
The camera’s 65x super-zoom compact lens with an impressive 21mm equivalent wide angle is truly exceptional. I like it as it would definitely be useful in covering festivals, concerts and sports events. It also comes handy when capturing subjects from long distances. Below are sample "ultra zoom" shots.
For someone like me who is high on the use of social media like Facebook and Instagram, I always want to share good photos to my friends and followers on my social media accounts. That is why I am so happy that Canon PowerShot SX60 HS has built-in Wi-Fi and NFC-pairing capabilities that allows easy image sharing and remote camera control.
This is one of the features I loved most about the Canon PowerShot SX60 HS. It allows me to transfer photos from the camera to my smartphone or tablet using the Canon Camera Connect app. It also allows me to remotely control the camera and shoot remotely with the app. How cool is that?!
Setting it up is pretty quick and easy and the app is easy to use. It is available for download on any Android and iOS devices.
Full manual control is available as well as a range of automatic modes, semi-automatic and scene modes that you could use in different scene conditions. Image quality is good, with bright and punchy colors and plenty of detail. Here are some sample shots.
Overall, I am quite impressed with the features and capabilities of my new Canon PowerShot SX60 HS. This is definitely an ideal gear for your next travel and adventures to capture and share those precious travel moments.
