How to Prepare the Washrooms for the Masskara Festival Season

Masskara Festival Bacolod City

I've been to Bacolod City twice and have witnessed their annual celebration of Masskara Festival. Many local and foreign visitors flock to the "City of Smiles" to have fun at the street parties, join the festivities and to watch the street dancing competitions. As a travel blogger covering the event, I was exposed to long hours of standing and chasing the contingents dancing at the streets to take photos. When the time comes that I need to use the toilet, I just go to a nearby fast food chain or a restaurant to use the washroom.

When festival season comes on a certain place, it is important to make sure that the public toilets are prepared adequately to service the needs of the visitors and guests. During the festival, washroom areas often get crowded with people and it is important that they are clean and presentable.

Here are some of my suggestions to make a toilet clean and presentable in time for Masskara Festival:
  • There should be adequate number of portalets scattered around the festival route to cater to the needs of the spectators.
  • The fixtures especially the toilet flush should all be in good working condition.
  • There should be enough water to keep the toilets clean.
  • The toilets should be well lit and ventilated.
  • There should be a personnel dedicated to clean the washroom more frequently.
  • Always use disinfectant and cleaning agents to keep the toilets clean.

Public toilets should be kept clean all the time. Clean toilets play an important part in enhancing the image of a city, which in turn will help attract more tourists and visitors.

ABOUT DOMEX'S 1 MILLION CLEAN TOILETS CAMPAIGN

Based on studies, over 90% of Households in the Philippines don’t practice proper toilet hygiene and nearly 7 million people don’t have access to a toilet. With this, The 1 Million Clean Toilets Campaign is Domex’s advocacy which aims to encourage a culture of cleanliness by increasing the public's awareness on the importance of maintaining proper toilet sanitation through a series of year-long cleaning and education initiatives.

We can do our part in making this a success! You too can be a part of the 1Million Clean Toilets Campaign by pledging for proper cleaning toilet habits. For each pledge, Unilever donates P5 to UNICEF’s sanitation program. Pledge now at www.facebook.com/DomexPhilippines.
