WHERE TO EAT IN BAGUIO CITY: Zola Resto Cafe in Session Road

We're now on our 2nd day in Baguio City. For breakfast, we were invited by Zola Resto Cafe to sample on their new dishes that will be included on their menu this month. But since we woke up late from partying all-night at Purple Lounge, we we're not able to wake up as scheduled. Hahaha! The supposedly breakfast at Zola Restaurant Cafe became brunch.

ZOLA which means "Zest of Life's Abundance" is located along Session Road, the busiest road in Baguio City. It is a Bar and Restaurant that specializes on a wide array of food choices. Zola is much like a fusion of a restaurant, cafe, and bar! Honestly, I have high expectations from Zola Resto Cafe as I've heard a lot of good reviews about them. Were my expectations met? Read on.

Upon entering the restaurant, I was impressed by its chic, casual, urban hip ambiance. I love the huge and spacious fixture where one can really relish their dining experience and enjoy the food with the company of friends and family. It is well lit with very nice-looking light fixtures hanging on the restaurant's ceiling. The color-combination inside is so appetizing. And the open windows and balcony area where guests can stay and enjoy the view of Session Road is a big plus. I love it!

The food served to us are among the new dishes they are offering this month. We were so lucky to be the among the first guests to try them. Let me bring you to Zola Resto Cafe's new flavorful offerings.

Breakfast

Filipino Breakfast - A usual combo meal of Filipino breakfast composed of garlic rice, fried egg, daing na bangus (milk fish), pork tocino and beef tapa.

Taal Rice - A well-cooked fried rice or “sinangag” with just the right amount of garlicky flavor and some bits of smoked fish. It is topped with salted egg and garnished with red tomatoes and white onions. This is one of my favorites.

American Breakfast - Composed of pancakes, poached eggs, strips of bacon and garnished with tomatoes and cucumber.

Blueberry French Toast - Made of toast with blueberry jam, bacon and garnished with tomatoes and cucumber.

Main Courses

Baby Back Ribs - Made from tender pork and has a thick barbecue sauce. I like it as the pork is well-cooked and so tender, you'll never have a hard time chewing it.

Cream Dory With Ratatouille - This one is made of fried Cream Dory fish topped with Ratatouille.

Chunky Chili Chicken - Boneless chicken strips spiced with chili sauce. I also love this one as its spiciness is just right. Great for the cold Baguio weather.

Buttered Pork Chop - This one is a classic fried pork chop, nothing really special but tastes okay.

Snacks and Desserts

Buffalo Chiken Pizza - It was served towards the end of our visit so I was kinda full already when it arrived on our table. The pizza is topped with chicken slices and lots of cheese. It was really good! Perfect for sharing with your friends over some bottles of beer.

Chef's Special Sandwich - This one is sinfully delicious. It's like a clubhouse sandwich with fried boneless chicken, bacon strips, cabbages and some dressing. I also like the fried potatoes wedges on the side.

Oreo Cookies and Cream - It looks yummy from the presentation alone and tastes just as good. It has layers of crushed Oreo cookies, cream and sprinkled with grated chocolates. I liked it!

Mango Tango - Another favorite of mine, it has layers of cream cheese and crushed graham crackers topped with riped slices of fresh Mangoes. It is then garnished with chocolate sauce. Definitely a must-try!

Zola Resto Cafe is definitely a must-go dining place in Baguio City. Whether it's for breakfast, lunch, snacks or dinner, you'll certainly have a great dining experience at Zola. I am totally satisfied with their new offerings, it even exceeded my expectations. Awesome service, lovely ambiance and good food! 2 thumbs up for Zola Resto Cafe!

  3. Only thing I would disagree with about this article is that Zola is spacious. Lol. It's a wide place but too crowded. Crowded isn't spacious.. no room to breathe.
