Top 5 Landmarks in the Philippines

The Philippines is one of the most naturally beautiful destinations in the world. The capital city of Manila provides a unique contrast between the hustle and bustle of everyday life and the natural beauty that surrounds it. Whether you’re looking for the adventure of a lifetime, a historical walk through a magnificent culture or simply want to visit some of the best landmarks in the world, there is no beating a holiday in the Philippines.

The Baroque Churches

One of the most breathtaking sights in the Philippines, if not the world, the Baroque Churches are in the list of the most visited landmarks in the country. The Baroque Churches give tourists an insight into the Spanish history of the Philippines, as one of the few remaining structures that is still intact. The churches are absolutely stunning to see, with intricate detailing covering their unique architecture. Built during the 16th Century, the Baroque Churches were designed to withstand powerful earthquakes, which is one reason why many are still standing today.

Banaue Rice Terraces

Like many Asian countries, the Philippines offer travellers a journey through a rich culture, where many traditional aspects of life still remain. The Banaue Rice Terraces are one of the most picturesque destinations throughout the country and provide an insight into the way of life for many citizens of the Philippines. The town of Banaue is an absolute must visit destination, with pictures not giving any justice to the beauty of this region.

Taal Volcano

Located just 50 kilometres off the coast of Manila, the bustling capital city of the Philippines, the Taal Volcano has been a popular sight for tourists, for hundreds of years. The Taal Volcano is now the smallest active volcano in the world, rising just 700 metres above the sea. The most recent eruption of the volcano was in 2009, making it an intriguing yet potentially fatal landmark. If you’d like to see this breathtaking destination, Manila airfares are very reasonably priced, coupled with affordable accommodation and great bargain shopping on arrival.

Tubbataha Reef Marine Park

Once again, showing the beauty of the Philippines landscape, the Tubbataha Reef Marine Park offers travellers some of the most magnificent views of undersea corals and marine life. One of the rare island reefs that provides a sheltered area, perfect for scuba diving, tourists can experience the magic of life under the sea.

The Town of Vigan

This historical town is located 400 kilometres from the capital city of Manila and attracts keen tourists and history buffs alike. Upon arrival in Vigan, it is easy to be confused as to which era you are in. Historical Spanish houses still line the streets of Vigan, while donkey drawn carts offer the most common mode of transportation. If you’re looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, head straight to the quaint surrounds of Vigan.

The Philippines and Manila provide travellers with a unique travel destination, encompassing Asian and Spanish traditions with more modern aspects of life. For a holiday you’ll never forget, book your next getaway to the spectacular Philippines.
