Sorsogon - Bulusan Volcano Natural Park and my First Kayaking Experience

Bulusan Volcano Natural Park is a nationally protected rain forest surrounding Mt. Bulusan, the highest peak in Sorsogon. It features the active Bulusan volcano, the lake, and two other mountain formations known as as Sharp Peak and Hormahan, and Lake Aguingay. Bulusan lake can be found at the foot of the volcano surrounded by lush green forest and encircled by a concrete pathway.

Located at 2 kilometers from the hi-way, you could either walk or take a tricycle to the entrance gate. A minimal fee of 10 pesos shall be collected at as entrance fee.

Believed to be formed by tectonic damming, Bulusan lake is located at the southeast flank of the volcano. It is possibly another crater of the volcano with emerald green water, rocky and sandy bottom.

I walked through the concrete pathway to see things around. It is indeed one of the most beautiful sights I’ve seen. The lush vegetation and green forests teeming with life and bio-diversity. Add to that the splendid view of the Bulusan Volcano, the mountains, the cold weather, and the stillness of the lake. It's really awesome!

Experiencing rich and well-preserved nature is truly one of the best feelings one could ever have. The sound of the rain forest and the fresh clean air that I miss! What else can I ask for?

The park is also a great place to relax after hiking Mt. Bulusan. An ideal kayaking site while enjoying the dense gathering of trees and lush tropical plants surrounding the area.

After my first top loading adventure, another first happened here in Sorsogon. My first kayaking experience! Woohoo!

The use of the kayak is at 100 pesos for 30 minutes. I was carefully assisted by the staff as I told them that it's my first time to do this and I don't know how to swim. Since I'm alone, they offered to take photos of me. So, I gave them my camera.

I navigated through the lake and enjoyed the calmness of the water. It was truly a peaceful and relaxing experience!

When you go to Sorsogon, visit this natural park and experience tranquillity on a rain forest, while enjoying some bonding time with your family and friends.

HOW TO GET THERE
