Lanao del Norte - Discovering the Beauty of Tinago Waterfalls

Iligan City is known as the "City of Majestic Waterfalls". I will not let this visit pass without checking on how majestic these waterfalls are. So, on my 2nd day in the city, I was accompanied by my friend, Jerwin in exploring the waterfalls around the city. Our first destination is the Tinago Waterfalls. Literally means "hidden", the falls is concealed within a deep ravine. One should go through a little bit of trekking of approximately 500 descending steps to reach this hidden jewel.

An amazing 240-foot waterfalls with cold waters gushing marvelously into a deep and calm basin-like pool will greet you. The efforts of walking down a winding staircase paid off as a marvelous sight unfold right in front of you.

I was really at awe! I can’t believe that an awe-inspiring waterfalls is right in front of me. Tinago waterfalls is really fantastic and indeed majestic.

HOW TO GET THERE
From the city proper, take a Buru-un route jeepney. Tell the driver to drop you at the Buru-un Market (talipapa). Fare is 13.00 PHP and travel time is about 15 minutes. From there, take a habal-habal (motorcycle) and ask the driver to take you to Tinago Falls. Fare is 25.00 PHP each.

This is a part of my trip to the cities of Marawi, Iligan and Ozamiz last September 16-18, 2011. Iligan City in Lanao del Norte is the 38th province on my list and a part my 10th solo trip. Discover the places I've been to, the friendships I've made, the food I tasted and the experiences I gained as I explore the city of majestic waterfalls!
