On our 2nd day in Davao City, we joined the Davao Asics Run sponsored by RunClub and Asics. With me are my running friends, Clarice, Marvin and Ate Pinky.

As early as 5:00 AM, fellow runners gathered at the starting line in Plaza Del Carmen in Loyola Street and excitedly waited for the gun start.

The event was organized by RunClub, the first and only running specialty store in Davao City, and in partnership with world-renowned Japanese running shoe company Asics.

We were all confronted by the challenging run up the winding ascent of the Buhangin fly-over, more than a kilometer from the starting line. It was indeed challenging at the same time fun as I take a route I haven't ran before.

So, what makes this run different from my previous runs? There were "cheer leaders" holding different words of encouragements that motivates and push you to continue running. That's really elevating!

Part of the proceeds of the event will benefit the Lamdag Foundation, a center dedicated to the personal and spiritual formation of young and professional women.

This post is part of my adventures in Davao City and Davao Del Norte with my MBA friends last February 19-21, 2011. Thanks to Joan and Clarice for sharing some of their photos. | |
