Bulacan - Spelunking at Bayukbok Cave in San Miguel Bulacan

Bayukbok Cave is located within the territory of the Biak na Bato National Park. It has an important role in our history as according to our guide, this is where the Katipuneros used to meet during the revolutionary times.

The exploration starts with a short, uphill trek to the cave. The rocks here are sharp, rough, and some are unstable. Utmost care is needed in hiking up the trail as laxity may lead to accidents.

The start of it all is a narrow passageway that leads to a cliff where you have go down through a rope. Wahhhhh! start pa lang, pahirapan na! Hahaha!!! It was kinda hard because you need to have a good grip at the rope so as not to fall off. Thank God, all of us made it through. Hehehe!

Wonderful stalactite and stalagmite formations welcomed us. We took some photos as we were so amazed by how nature formed this astounding cave.

Then our guides directed us to a small passage where we now have to switch our head lamps on. It was dark and we can barely see what's inside.

We continued to explore the cave and appreciated awesome rock formations, sparkling stalactites and stalagmites as we go through the chambers.

There was also a part where we need to climb a makeshift ladder made of ropes and bamboos. It was hard because the ladder is not stable, it was moving to all directions. What you can do to make it easier is to hold tight on the ropes and push yourself up.

Then to a part where we need to crawl a very narrow opening. We were like snakes as we went through it. Bend, twist, turn, flex, and contort your body to any position possible for you to pass through. Hahaha!!!

Nature really has its way to make this spelunking experience manageable. Naturally-formed handles and footholds helped us get through.

One swing to a vine is the end of the cave. As our guides said, pretend that you are Tarzan! Wohohooooo!!! Hahaha!!!

Spelunking is indeed a test of strength, endurance and flexibility. It took us 2 hours to finish the cave! Not bad...! Hehehe! Truly, this is an experience of a lifetime you shouldn’t miss!

The Sosyal Klaymers and our guides

Appreciation goes to our guides who helped us in every step of the way (literally...) Hehehe! Salamat po!

We had a quick dip at the river then packed up for home.
