I found myself trekking again another mountain trail last weekend. This time, it was Mt. Kalisungan in Calauan, Laguna. To date, this is my 8th attempt to climb up a mountain, of which 6 are successful. I met up with my Sosyal Klaymer friends - Ayie, Alex, Mitch, Julius and Bheng in Jolibee Buendia. At dahil puyat ako the night before, I was the last one to arrive. Hahaha!!!

Thanks Bheng for the cake! So, kelangan mai-akyat mo yan sa summit ha? Hehehe!!!
@Goldilocks, while waiting for Alex's bday cake
We took the GreenStar Bus bound to Sta. Cruz, Laguna. I was just sleeping inside the bus, kasi nga puyat ako, nagising nalang ako nung nasa Calamba na kami...
Natulog talaga ako sa byahe... Hahaha!
Our first stop was Bay (pronounced "Ba eeh"), Laguna Public Market to buy things we need for the dinner. We also had our lunch here. Di ako masyado nag enjoy sa lunch, I only had some tortang talong and rice, walang masyadong options eh!
After having lunch, we are now bound to Victoria, Laguna. We took the jeepney and alight at the duck junction, fare is Php 10.00 each. This is one of the famous landmarks of this town, as it is known as the "Duck Capital of the Philippines". Itik Festival is being held here every second week of November to celebrate their booming Itik industry.

After some photo opportunity at the huge duck statues, we ride the tricycle going to Brgy. Lamot II. Fare is Php 60.00 for each tricycle.

According to our research, Erais Farm is the jump-off point, unfortunately it is closed. So the triclye driver brought us in a house where there is a small street beside it, but we were not allowed to enter. Hay... San ba talaga ang jump-off point? The driver told us that we go first to the Barangay Hall to register and there is one jump-off point in front of it. Yun na nga ginawa namin, nagpahatid kami dun at nag-register.

Sabi ng mga taga Brgy. Lamot, mahirap daw ang way na yun kasi nga daw maraming sanga-sangang daan. But that will not make us surrender, we will give it a try. We started to trek at exactly 1:45 PM, in a paved road leading to the foot of the mountain. After 20 minutes, we reached a kubo to rest.
our first stop, nag uumpisa ng umulan...
Fixing our things para hindi mabasa...
We continued our trekking kahit pa lumakas na ang ulan. Hehehe!
tuloy-tuloy lang kami sa paghahanap ng trail
Until we reached this point where there is a sign na "BAWAL PUMASOK". Hehehe!!!
Bawal daw pumasok???
So, tuloy tuloy lang kami hangga't may trail na malinaw paakyat. Until we reached a fork; Alex checked each way of the fork so that we won't waste time from going and then coming back if that is the wrong way. Unluckily, both ways lead to nowhere. This is the most difficult part of our climb, we need to decide whether we should proceed or not. It will be really hard for us to continue if we don't see any established trail, aside from the fact that the rain is pouring really hard. And the concensus of the group was not to push thru and just go down. But before we go down, nag picture-picture muna kami... Di kami mukhang disappointed noh? Hahaha!!!
Happy Birthday Alex!!!
Looking at Mt. Kalisungan's Summit
Nagcarlan, Liliw, Magdalena, Pagsanjan, Majayjay... San ba? Masyadong malaki ang Laguna at maraming mapupuntahan. I tried calling a friend who lives in Laguna to ask where we could go and spend a weekend, But she was not answering my calls. Until we have decided to stay in one of the resorts nearby.

But before we started to go down, may dumating na ilan pang mountaineers. They encouranged us to join them and continue our climb, but we have decided not to push thru. So nag picture-picture nalang kami with them. After that, bumaba na kami.
with the other mountaineers
this is it... pababa na talaga kami...
malapit na kami sa jump-off

We may not have conquered Mt. Kalisungan in our first attempt, but we promised to come back. Magbabalik kami upang ikaw ay akyatin. Hintayin mo ang aming pagbabalik!!!
